To my faithful readers, both of you

I do apologize for not posting much. I can't decide if I should hang onto this thing or not. On the one hand, it gives my friends a place to know what's going on with me and feel as though they never have to email me back, on the other hand, I've been so busy lately that it's hard to keep up. I have a long list of excuses lined up behind me - I've even had a ton of things I wanted to post, but never the time. Sigh.

So, does anyone know anything about planting grass? We are going to go the seed route and not the sod route, and we are definitely looking for advice, we are getting conflicting information. Oh, and I pulled weeds all day Saturday and my body is in screaming pain. By "all day" I do mean for about 8 hours. Pulling. Yes, there were that many weeds. Hence the need for some grass.

I too am considering stopping my posts. I'm too busy to post just like you and I've been accused of not watching what I say. I guess it's better to just speak that way then write that way? Anyway, if we both stop I guess we'll have to email more.

As a faithful reader, I would be very sad if you ended your blogging days. At the same time, I don't make the time to write a blog, so I can't really blame you for doing the same. I would go into DTTR withdrawal though...

Well, since you are the one that got me hooked on my blog, I can certainly understand the pros and cons of such a decision. So, while personally sad, I can absolutely relate. Keep us "posted" on what you decide.

As for sod verus seed...clearly you are now "an adult" if you are having lawncare discussions :). Seriously, two main considerations is (1) shade factor, and (2) cost factor. If lawn is shady, obviusly seed is more problematic. And that darn fescue nevers has worked well for us. If sunny, you can get good results, cheaply and quickly with bermuda grass. With that said, St. Augustine is my lawn grass of choice, but will require more water, good sun for a portion of the day (also watch out for that tree branch coverage), and the lawns has to be sodded. Tough work for Mr. J and you if you are do-ot-yourselfers. More expensive than a bag of seed, but also prettier. Tough one, but as a first-time homeowner, I think we opted for the low-cost route.... bermuda...

We have Bermuda and it is much prettier around here compared to St Augustin (the heat and lack of rain contribute to the Bermuda doing well). If you sod you have to till **A VERY HARD JOB!!!!** to break up the dirt so the seed takes root, I am sure you have heard that before. My advice is to go to a nursery around your house and they should be able to tell you the best way to go for your area. We are fortunate to have a landscaping supplier right around the corner so they gave us a schedule of when to put extra seed down and what fertilizer and when. Maybe you too have a landscape supplier near????? Good luck. K PS. I read your blog everyday, but I understand you are WAY busy.
